It's almost hump day Wednesday...and that means it's almost Wednesday Wing Night! It used to be hard to find good wings in Seoul, but now western style chicken wings are everywhere here too! I love Korean fried chicken too (post to come on that soon), but chicken wings hit a different kind of craving. Some places here have wing night on Tuesday or Thursday, but I think Wednesday Wing Night has a nice ring to it.

Here are some of my favourite and not-so-favourite places in Seoul out of the places I've tried! Most will be the original buffalo style chicken wing or different flavours of that variation except for this first place.

#1.  @Vatos Urban Tacos - Honey Tequila Chicken Wings

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! Best fusion chicken wings! (any day)

These wings are SO good. Apparently there is a proper Vatos way to enjoy these babies. Take a fresh hot wing, dip it in the creamy blue cheese dip and then top it off with a crispy juicy deep fried jalapeno and your bite is full of exploding flavours that just go oh-so-well together. Korean-mexican may not be the first place you think of for chicken wings, but these are the best!

You can even get them delivered, along with all their other great menu items,  right to your doorstep with Y-not delivery! If they're not as hot when they get to you, just stick them in the toaster oven for a few minutes and they are just as good as dining in!

#2. @Oasis on Yongsan Garrison Military Base

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! Best buffalo/honey garlic wing (if you can get on base)!

The size of the wings, flavours and price are just like the states and these big juicy wings come with the proper carrot and celery sticks with ranch dip (I prefer blue cheese for chicken wings, but ranch was good with the veggie sticks.

#3. @Bull & Barrel.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! The best variety of chicken wings! (any day, especially on Wednesday Wing night)

You definitely want to come here for wings - especially on Wednesday Wing Night! Normally a basket of 10 wings are 9000won, but on Wednesday they are only 4000won with the purchase of a drink (which normally you would get anyways with wings at a pub anyways!). My only wish is that they had celery sticks instead of cucumber sticks. All the wings came out here piping hot so you know they were fried right before serving.

There are 3 owners who are British, Canadian and Pakistani, so the menu has a wide variety of dishes such as Bangers and Mash, Poutine and Curries. Haven't tried them all, but the poutine was not good at all (coming from a girl who grew up in Canada). The gravy tasted like instant gravy with a butter flavour and the cheese was grated mozzarella instead of real cheese curds that are supposed to squeak when you chew.  Oh, but their fries itself was awesome. Medium cut, super hot and crispy and generous portions. I love thicker cut fries rather than the thin ones like at McDonald's.

If you like games, they also have darts (including a dart league), pool tables and fuse-ball.

B&B - Hot & Creamy. Great combination of just that. Spicy and creamy all in one. My favourite wing flavour anywhere - was great here too.

B&B - Buffalo. A classic original. Can't go wrong with this. It's not overly spicy or vinegary here, but it does have a good kick. Goes perfect with the blue cheese dip.

B&B - Masala. An Indian curry flavour. I love Indian food and curry, but this had a slightly sweet taste to it when I was expecting only savoury. This was my least favourite flavour due to the sweetness of the curry, but it was still good.

B&B - Lime Jalapeno. One of the top contenders. This and the Hot & Creamy were the top two favourites. SO flavourful, saucy, spicy and delicious!!! If you like strong flavours, this is one is for you with a tangy kick!

Just a generic honey mustard, nothing special. It would've been better if the wings came more flavoured or with a better sauce.

I am looking forward to trying some of their other flavours such as Asian Sesame (sort of like terriyaki), Carolina (Buffalo but more vinegary). I would definitely order the Hot & Creamy and Lime Jalapeno again too!

Not So Recommended - I don't usually waste time posting on places I don't recommend, but I'll throw these in the bunch since I've tried all of them anyhow.

@Route 66 - They have a pizza special on Wednesday (a slice being 1000won w. a drink), but their wings special is actually on Tuesdays - 4000won for 10 regular wings or 1/2 lb boneless. I wonder why places do wing specials on Tuesdays instead of Wing Wednesday? Tuesdays should be Taco Tuesdays!

Dislikes: Didn't come out hot, the wings were small and a bit over-fried.

Boneless Buffalo Wings - I know some people would love this boneless wing option.

@Napkin Please - Amongst all of their other American dishes, the wings weren't quite up to par. They were also fairly small in comparison to Bull & Barrel and of course the Oasis on base. The dipping sauce was a garlic mayo - which was great, but didn't go with the wings as well as blue cheese dip would.

Dislikes: They were overly spicy and overly vinegary. I can eat spicy, but these were a bit over the top for a buffalo wing.

@Brick Oven NYC Pizzeria - I would go for their margarita pizzas and fries, but not the wings. Tiny wings and nothing memorable.

Dislikes: Wings are too small, batter was a bit soggy, ranch sauce instead of blue cheese, no carrot sticks.

@Chili King - Tuesday night half off on starter specials: 5500won for a basket of wings.

Not bad, interesting. The Thai wings taste just like chicken wings covered in green curry. The Crazy Cajun were salty and well flavoured.

Other places that I've tried, but I don't have pictures:

 - Sam Ryan's Pub

- Dillengers

- Rocky Mountain Tavern.......(I used to go there a few times, but I stopped going there after I had a pubic hair in my wings and they weren't too apologetic about it...)

Where have you had western style chicken wings? Let me know where your favourite place is!
